Most Cary Services to Pause for Veterans Day, Citizens Invited to Veterans Freedom Park to Honor Vets of all Wars and Conflicts

  • Cary Town Hall will close on Friday, November 10 along with most staffed facilities in observance of Veterans Day; GoCary will operate on a normal schedule on Veterans Day and Door-to-Door will be Tier I only.
  • The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed on Friday in observance of the Town Holiday but will return to normal operating hours Saturday; curbside collection for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will remain unaffected for the week of November 5 and loose leaf collection season continues to proceed as scheduled.
  • On Saturday, November 11, at 11 a.m., citizens are invited to Veterans Freedom Park, 1513 N Harrison Ave., for a ceremony honoring veterans of all wars and conflicts.

Cary, NC – Most staffed Cary facilities, including Cary Town Hall and all community centers, will close on Friday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day. The Citizen’s Convenience Center will also close on Friday, November 10, and will return to normal operating hours on Saturday. Curbside collection for the week of November 5 will remain unchanged; find your personalized schedule, including holidays and loose leaf collection, at carync.gov/collects.

GoCary fixed routes will operate on a normal weekly schedule on Veterans Day and Door-to-Door will be Tier I trips only.

On Saturday, November 11 at 11 a.m., citizens are invited to a ceremony at Veterans Freedom Park, 1517 N. Harrison Ave., to honor veterans of all wars and conflicts. It will feature remarks from Cary Town Council Members, guest speaker North Carolina Department of VFW State Commander Helen Nelson, and patriotic music from the Old North State Band.

Free parking will be available at Cary Academy (1500 N. Harrison Ave.), directly across the street from Veterans Freedom Park. A free ADA-accessible shuttle will be on hand to transport everyone to the memorial. A special Field of Flags will be placed at Veterans Freedom Park in honor of those who have bravely served in the armed forces. For more information, visit carync.gov/veteransday
