• Community Centers and other staffed facilities set to close at 3 p.m. Friday. Town Hall is currently set to remain open until 5 p.m. Friday. GoCary will be suspending service at 1 p.m. Friday.

Cary, NC – Cary crews are prepped and ready to greet snow for the first time in over 1,000 days. Snow Command opened at 7 a.m. Friday, and crews have been working since Wednesday to brine Cary’s hundreds of miles of streets. Based on the current forecast, the following Cary services are impacted: 

• All community centers and programming will be closed and cancelled as of 3 p.m. Friday and re-open for normal business and programming beginning at noon on Saturday.
• GoCary will suspend service at 1 p.m. Friday and will not operate the Downtown Loop route.
• The Citizen's Convenience Center will be closed Saturday.
• The NC Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheatre will be closed Friday night and re-open Saturday and Sunday for the final nights of the NC Chinese Lantern Festival. Date-specific tickets purchased for Friday will be honored on Saturday or Sunday. Refund requests will also be honored for Friday-specific tickets left unredeemed.
• Downtown Cary Park’s Guest Services will be closing at 3 p.m., with plans to re-open at noon on Saturday.
• The Bark Bar and Market 317 at Downtown Cary Park will be closed Friday and Saturday. 

Participants with questions about hours of operation at the different facilities should contact the particular facility. The status of recreation, athletic and cultural arts programs can also be verified online.

Should wintry weather materialize and reach one-inch of accumulation, Cary crews will spread/plow thoroughfares first followed by primary streets within subdivisions, then through-streets in subdivisions and then cul-de-sacs. The Town does not treat private parking lots, including those in apartment and condominium complexes or at businesses and commercial centers.

Take time now to ensure you're ready for adverse winter weather:

• Be proactive and locate and learn how to use your residence’s master water shut off valve in the event of broken utility pipes.
• Do not park on streets so that Town equipment can service the area.
• Do not attempt to deal with downed limbs or trees on a street or sidewalk on your own since they may be tangled in live power lines; instead call the Town’s non-emergency number at (919) 469-4012.
• Be neighborly and check on neighbors to ensure everyone is OK.
• Stay indoors during severe winter weather. If you do decide to venture out—whether walking or driving — let folks know when and where you are going so that they can contact emergency officials should you fail to reach your destination. Take a cell phone just in case.
• Report power outages to Duke Energy Progress anytime at 1-800-343-3525, or Apex Electric at (919) 372-7475. If someone in your neighborhood doesn't call, your area may not be on the repair list.
