CARY, NC – Hear from candidates for Cary Town Council before heading to the polls; the Cary Community Candidate Forum, featuring candidates for Cary Town Council’s At-Large, District A, and District C seats, is now airing daily on Cary TV until Election Day. The forum airs daily on Spectrum channel 11 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. unless superseded by a Town Council meeting live cablecast or replay. For those without cable television, the forum is available on demand on YouTube and at carync.gov/candidateforum.
As in years past, the Cary Community Candidate Forum is the only forum for candidates for local office sponsored by a Triangle local government, and the only forum for local offices to be aired this year on Cary TV. This year’s forum is sponsored in its entirety by the Town of Cary. Participation was optional, and no edits or promotional materials were permitted. Based on a decision at the July 23, 2015 regular Cary Town Council meeting, each candidate was given five minutes for comment.
Election day is November 4. This year, Cary’s elections will return to the plurality method based on an August 22, 2024 decision by Council. This is a winner-take-all approach where the candidate with the most votes wins — no runoff voting will take place. This change simplifies the process, aligns Cary’s elections with federal dates, and saves the cost of a separate election. This election is non-partisan and is not a primary.
Cary residents in Wake County can vote early at the Wake County Board of Elections Office in Raleigh beginning October 16, and at the Herb Young Community Center in Cary beginning October 25. Cary residents in Chatham County may vote early at the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center in Pittsboro starting October 16, and at New Hope Baptist Church in Apex starting October 25. Early voting at all sites ends November 1, and voters are required to show an accepted form of photo ID.
Cary TV, cablecast on Spectrum channel 11, is the government access channel of the Town of Cary. Watch meetings and other original programs online on Cary's YouTube channel, or learn more about the channel by visiting our Cary TV homepage.
