GoCary Announces New Routes and Service Enhancements Starting November 1

Post Date:10/21/2025 1:18 PM
  • Starting November 1, GoCary riders will have two new routes connecting Cary to Apex and Raleigh.
  • Additional route efficiency improvements will go into effect at the same time across the majority of existing GoCary routes.
  • As part of safety and accessibility improvements, GoCary adds ADA-compliant stops, new boarding pads, and a crosswalk on Walnut Street at Donaldson Drive.

Cary, NC — Starting November 1, GoCary riders will have more ways to get around the area. Two new routes, Route 2 and Route 9, will expand access and strengthen connections between Cary, Apex, and Raleigh. Route 2 will link downtown Cary with NC State University and the State Fairgrounds, while Route 9 evolves the Apex-Cary Express into a local route featuring 34 stops between downtown Cary and downtown Apex.

Riders will notice efficiency improvements across most existing GoCary routes, effective November 1, too. Route 1 will feature new stops along Crossroads Boulevard and Jones Franklin Road, while inbound stops on Dillard Drive at Walnut Street, Columbus Avenue, and Jones Franklin Road have been discontinued. Route 4 will also adjust service and no longer enter the Maynard Crossing Shopping Center, removing the two stops inside the plaza. A full list of existing route changes can be found at gocary.org or by downloading the GoCary app.

GoCary is also investing in rider comfort and accessibility. All new and upgraded stops on Routes 1, 2, and 9 meet ADA standards and include lighting where possible. In addition, 38 existing stops will receive new concrete boarding pads, improving safety and accessibility for all riders. As part of GoCary’s commitment to pedestrian safety, construction will begin on a new crosswalk with pedestrian signals at Walnut Street and Donaldson Drive.
