Planning to spend time outside over the holiday weekend? Cary Tennis Park’s outdoor courts remain open daily from sunrise to 11 p.m. Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve remains open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A full map of Cary’s greenways and parks can be found at carync.gov/greenways. Additionally, the Chinese Lantern Festival has returned to Koka Booth Amphitheatre through January 11, 2026. When cooking over the holiday, remember to properly dispose of cooking fats, oils, and grease via the residential waste cooking oil curbside recycling program. Simply place cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screw-top food container. Once at least a half-gallon (approximately one 2-liter soda bottle) is collected, label the container “Used Cooking Oil” and log your request for curbside collection at carync.gov/311.

Following the holiday week, Cary's second loose leaf collection sweep will begin on Monday, December 1. This date applies to all Cary citizens who receive curbside collection services. Citizens are asked to place their leaves at the curb up to one week prior to the collection date. To view collection progress, visit carync.gov/leaves.
