Cary’s Biennial Citizen Satisfaction Survey To Begin January 12

Post Date:01/06/2026 10:25 AM
  • Consultants working on behalf of the Town of Cary will contact selected residents by phone from January 12 through the end of February to solicit their opinions on how the Town’s government is working for them.
  • Topics covered will include safety, service, communications, transportation, recreation, and the environment.
  • Residents are selected at random, and responses to the survey will be anonymous, though participants may opt to provide identifying information if they wish to potentially participate in future focus groups based on the report’s findings.

Cary, NC – On Monday, January 12, consultants working on behalf of the Town of Cary will begin contacting over 400 residents, selected at random, to solicit their opinions on how well Cary’s government works for them. Citizens will be contacted by phone and asked to spend approximately 20 minutes answering 30 questions for a scientific poll, which will be conducted throughout the month of February. Topics will include safety, service, communications, transportation, recreation, and the environment.

“As Cary continues to grow and change, listening remains essential,” said Interim Town Manager Russ Overton. “The biennial survey helps us keep a pulse on how residents are feeling and ensures our decisions are informed by data and community feedback.”

This will be the 15th survey of this kind that Cary has conducted about its operations and services. As in previous years, the 2026 survey is divided into three parts:

  • Questions carried over from previous surveys, which allow Cary to track trends in its performance
  • Questions that change from survey to survey, which help indicate current or emerging issues
  • Demographic questions (age, gender identity, race, and education), which help ensure the sample group is representative of Cary’s population

Responses are anonymous, and any demographic information will only be combined with others and won’t identify participants personally. However, respondents will have the option to provide identifying information if they are interested in participating in future focus groups based on the survey’s findings.

BKL Research of Salem, VA, has contracted with the Town to conduct the study and related focus groups. The survey report is expected to be released in summer 2026 and will be posted on the Surveys and Research section of carync.gov, where an archive of previous reports is also available.
