Cary, NC — Diavolo at New Hope, a 22-hole disc golf course spanning 48 acres in Cary, has been named the most popular disc golf course in North Carolina by UDisc for 2025. This achievement represents a significant return on the Town of Cary's investment in recreational infrastructure and demonstrates how strategic public funding can create world-class community assets.
Since opening in October 2020, the course has quickly established itself as a premier destination for disc golf enthusiasts, reaching as high as No. 7 on UDisc's World's Best Disc Golf Courses list. The course has hosted major events, including the 2024 Tim Selinske United States Masters and the BODYARMOR State Games Disc Golf Championship.
Diavolo at New Hope was made possible through a partnership between the Town of Cary and the Capital Area Disc League. The project was originally approved as part of the Town's 2012 Community Investment Bond, a visionary decision that has continued to pay dividends nearly a decade later. The course was designed by Jay Pontier, president of the Capital Area Disc League, and Mike Sink of Cary's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, with construction supported by dedicated town staff and numerous volunteers.
The comprehensive layout features 60 blue, white, and red tees across 22 holes, offering multiple configurations for all skill levels. Three "Fusion" holes combine shorter par threes into longer, more challenging par fours for competitive play. The design takes full advantage of the natural terrain, incorporating open and wooded holes, water features, and creative use of the surrounding landscape, including sections along the American Tobacco Trail greenway.
