The Public Safety Cadet Program is open to youth over the age of 13 who have completed 8th grade and are interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field within criminal justice. The hands-on program provides awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical experiences, competition, and other activities. Camp Ignite is a unique and empowering program designed for young girls interested in exploring careers in firefighting and emergency services. Camp Ignite is taught by a Cadre of female firefighters from Cary, Apex, and Morrisville Fire Departments. This free camp offers an immersive experience where participants engage in hands-on activities such as fire drills, first aid, and physical fitness training, all while learning about teamwork, leadership, and community service. Camp Ignite aims to inspire young women to consider a future in fire service and break down gender barriers in traditionally male-dominated professions. It fosters confidence, skill-building, and camaraderie, providing participants with a real sense of what it’s like to be a firefighter.
