Cary’s fleet plays a critical role in delivering essential services to the community, from trash collection to emergency response. Guided by the Sustainability & Climate Action Strategy, we're working to reduce fuel consumption, improve efficiency, and lower emissions while ensuring vehicles are well-equipped and right-sized for the job.

Predictive Maintenance Implementation: Utilize predictive analytics to proactively address maintenance issues, improve vehicle reliability, and minimize unexpected downtime.
Fuel Cost Savings Program: Develop strategies to reduce fuel consumption and costs through measures such as enhanced driver training, idle reduction policies, and route optimization tools.

Looking Ahead

As technology advances, Cary is preparing for the long-term evolution of its municipal fleet, including electric fire apparatus, EV pool vehicles, and expanded charging infrastructure. Our strategy includes aligning equipment procurement with long-term goals.
