Evans & Watkins Road Reclaimed Connections
Overview: This project constructs approximately 170 LF of 12-inch diameter and 2,540 LF of 16-inch diameter on Evans Road between Weston Parkway and Aviation Parkway. This pipeline will be between the existing 12-inch diameter reclaimed mains. This project, along with Project N-8 will extend the reclaimed water service to the Wake Technical Community College RTP campus, which intends to use reclaimed water for cooling towers. The campus plan includes 975,000 square feet of buildings by buildout, with 415,000 square feet over the next 10 years.
N-8 construct a reclaimed water main connection, approximately 4,240 linear feet of 6-inch diameter along Watkins Road connecting McCrimmon Parkway with Chapel Hill Road. This new main will be between existing 16-inch, 12-inch and 6-inch diameter mains.
Status update, winter 2026: Scoping of the project is underway with design anticipated to start in Spring 2026.
Green Level Church Road Force Main Improvements
Overview: This project will install a new 30-inch force main in a new alignment to parallel an existing force main along Green Level Church Road that is experiencing maintenance issues. The new force main will tie into the existing main at Panther Creek and continue southeast, parallel to existing gravity sewer through Town of Cary property. At the southern boundary of Cary's property the force main continues east to Mills Park Drive. The force main follows Mills Park Drive, crossing Morrisville Parkway and continuing west along Morrisville Parkway. The alignment then turns south paralleling a stream before continuing alongside a greenway towards Green Level Church Road. Once it reaches Green Level Church Road the force main would continue south before discharging into the existing Green Level interceptor.

Jack Branch Interceptor Project (SW1269)
Overview: This project provides for the extension of the existing interceptor sewer system located near Jack Branch and approximately 1,000 linear feet west of NC-540 in accordance with Cary’s Wastewater Collection System Master Plan. The extension will be located adjacent to the Jack Branch and extend to the east approximately 14,000 linear feet to just past the east side of NC-540. The total length and actual location of the extension will be based on available funding and will be determined after the design phase is complete.Walnut Creek Pump Station Expansion
Overview: The Walnut Creek Pump Station provides wastewater service to downtown Cary, Fenton, South Hills, and the proposed Epic Games headquarters. The existing pump station is in need of rehabilitation and expansion to meet the continued growth and redevelopment in the area. A preliminary engineering report (PER) was developed to plan rehabilitation and construction efforts over the next several years. Based on the results of the PER, Cary has decided to pursue a single-phase design to increase pump station capacity and implement site improvements. Site evaluation and design is currently underway and has reached the 95% design milestone. Construction with the project expected to take several years to be fully complete.
Status update, Spring 2026: The project is currently under design, with construction anticipated to begin in 2026.

Swift Creek Pump Station Improvement
Overview: The Swift Creek Pump Station operates with two wet wells and two different voltage systems - the old system on 575V and the new system on 480V. The old wet well and electrical system have been in service for over 35 years. The maintenance staff face issues securing replacement parts and service for the 575V system. This is considered as a high risk factor for the pump station operation. Duke Energy shares similar challenges to maintain 575V transformer and offered to replace it with a new 480V transformer.
A wholistic plan is needed to disconnect/demolish existing 575V system components and replace them with new 480V components. These new equipment include submersible pumps, a back-up generator, an automatic transfer switch, variable frequency devices, breakers, conductors and other power distribution system components.
Status update, Winter 2026: The project is currently under design, with construction anticipated to begin in Summer 2026.
