Create your own team in the Bike Month Workplace Challenge all May and challenge yourself and others to ride more. It's a great way to stay active, have fun, and make a positive impact. It's easy to sign up and compete with your co-workers!

May 7: Bike to School Day
Join us for Cary’s Bike to School Day on May 7! It's a fun, healthy way to start your day, get some exercise, and help the environment. Register your school and find lots of resources to coordinate your own Bike to School day at WalkBiketoSchool.org

May 15: Light up the Night Ride
Join us for the Light Up The Night Cary group ride! This ride is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a fun, easy, and social ride around Cary. Meet at the Cary Regional Library at 7 p.m. There will be a short one-mile loop for families to participate in. After that, the group will continue on a sub-10-mile ride at a social pace before returning to the library.

May 16: Bike to Work Day
We're excited to celebrate Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 16! Leave your car behind and pedal your way to work today, visit our education page for tips on getting there safely. Also, it's not too late to sign up with your co-workers for the workplace challenge happening all May.

May 18: Bike to the Park Event
Join us on Sunday, May 18, 2025 for the Cary Bike to the Park Event, hosted by the Cary Bike Advocacy Coalition. There will be several guided and self-guided routes to get to the event. Between 1-3 p.m. we'll gather at the downtown park to celebrate biking in Cary! At the event, there will be information on how to ride locally, education materials on where and how to bike safely, and an opportunity to learn about simple bike repairs.

May 21: Bike Meet & Greet
This event will serve as a meet-and-greet for individuals interested in volunteering with Oaks and Spokes to help organize events, support advocacy efforts, and build connections within Cary's biking community. Meet at Trek Bicycle Cary (1377 NW Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27513) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to learn more

May 21: Transit Pop-up at Dorcus Ministries
Join Town of Cary staff outside Dorcas Ministries (187 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27511) from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. as we celebrate Bike Month with an engaging and informative event. Stop by to learn more about Bike Cary, greenways, and how you can seamlessly combine biking with GoCary’s fare-free transit. We’ll also have a bus bike rack demonstration to show just how easy it is to load your bike onto any GoCary bus — perfect for your next multi-modal trip! In addition, the 2035 Wake Transit Plan Investment Strategy and the FY 2026 Wake Transit Work Plan are now available for public review and your input is an essential part of the planning process. Tablets will be available onsite for those who wish to participate and provide feedback.

Join us and Oaks and Spokes at the Cary Theater for a showing of Breaking Away. Showtime is 8 p.m. and doors open at 7:30 p.m.

May 27: Cary Bicycle and Pedestrian Forum
Join us at the Academy Pavilion in Downtown Cary Park from 5–7 p.m. as we bring together community voices, expert panelists, and passionate advocates to discuss the future of mobility in Cary. This forum offers a chance to explore the key issues shaping how we move, whether on foot, by bike, or through our broader transportation systems. Our panelists bring a wide range of expertise and lived experience, and they’re ready to answer questions about what Cary has accomplished and what’s on the horizon. From safety and infrastructure to long-term planning, this is your opportunity to be part of the conversation.
