A distinctive way to memorialize or honor a loved one or special event while making the community a more beautiful place

Cary’s Legacy Giving Program offers a meaningful way to honor or memorialize a loved one, organization, or special event. Your donation supports the placement of a commemorative tree or bench in one of our parks or along our greenways, accompanied by a personalized plaque with your custom inscription. This lasting tribute will serve as a thoughtful gift to the community for generations to come.

Legacy Tree

Celebrate a loved one or mark a meaningful occasion by dedicating a young tree in a Cary park, greenway, or open space*. Each tree includes a personalized plaque to commemorate your dedication. Applications are reviewed each fall, with plantings scheduled during the winter season to ensure optimal growing conditions.

Legacy Bench

Recognize a loved one by dedicating a bench in a Cary park or along a greenway*. Placement is coordinated with Town staff to find a mutually agreeable location. Each bench includes a personalized plaque to honor your dedication.

*Legacy Trees and Benches are no longer accepted at Fred G. Bond Park, Downtown Cary Park, or Symphony Lake Greenway.

How to Make a Legacy Donation

To donate a Legacy Tree or Bench, you must submit a completed application. Once we receive your application, you will be contacted to determine the location, discuss details, and submit payment.
