Registration and Withdrawals
- Go to carync.gov/register. Click Sign In/Register on the top right of the page.
- Log in to your account with your username and password.
- Click on the Search All Activities & Programs box
- Use Keyword Search and other filters for the program(s) you want. Click the Search button.
- Click on the activity you want to enroll in and select a section you would like to register for.
If the activity is available for registration, it will show as an Available status with a green circle icon on the far right.

Option 1: Check the box next to that activity under the Add to Cart heading. You can select multiple activities before adding them to your cart and checking out.
**Carts will expire after 30 minutes if they remain inactive. If your cart remains INACTIVE for 30 minutes, items will be removed and available for others to register for.
- Option 2: Click Add to Selection List and then Add to Cart.
- Check the name(s) of the people who will take the course if in a household. Click Continue.
- Answer the questions at the top regarding ADA accommodations and important information worth noting.
- Read through the ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND LIABILITY RELEASE & AGREEMENT.
- Answer and sign the bottom of the waiver.
- Check the box and click Continue.
- Review your cart and click Proceed to Checkout.
- Confirm your billing information.
- Enter your payment information.
- Click Continue to finish checking out.
- Choose to send a copy of your receipt to another email address if you would like.
**If you are using a tablet or phone, tap on the blue icon in the top right corner of the screen to access the search filters.
You can process your cancellation directly online as long as your request meets our Cancellation Policy listed below!
- Visit the Cancellation tab under “History & Balances” to see a list of eligible items for cancellation. You can process your refund directly back to your credit card or leave a credit on your account for future use. To complete cancellation, you must go to your Cart and choose credit card or credit refund and “check out” to complete.
- If you are cancelling activities from different transactions, you will have to cancel these individually in order to receive a credit card refund.
- If you paid by echeck, please email recreation.support@carync.gov to request a check refund. We are unable to process refunds as echecks.
- Many free programs can be cancelled online until 2 hours before the start time.
- If you are changing to another activity with the same price, you can place both the cancellation and the new registration in your cart, then complete your transaction. You must proceed through checkout!
Cancellation Policy: Any participant wishing to withdraw from an activity must do so at least 7 days prior to the scheduled start date. Camps (Summer) require requests to be at least 14 days prior to the scheduled start.
If your request is less than the 7 days for programs or 14 days for camps, you must complete this withdrawal form link and email recreation.support@carync.gov for consideration. **Non-attendance or non-participation in an activity does not entitle the patron to a refund/credit.
Most seasonal registrations open at 9 a.m. for Cary Residents. Check www.carync.gov/programs for upcoming season dates. Registration is open to Cary Residents for two weeks ahead of non-residents to allow for priority. After two weeks, registration is open to everyone. (Cary Residency is defined by what city residents pay taxes).
Summer Camps registration will open ONLINE at 7 a.m. Activities will show as Unavailable until registration opens. In-person registration will open when facilities open at their normal scheduled times.
We rarely send marketing emails, so this is optional. if the primary guardian on the household has a verified email, you will receive reminders one day before new program start dates and feedback surveys.
- To manage your Marketing email preferences:
- Click your account name in the top right
- Navigate to the My Account column
- Click My Profile
- You will see a note under the Email box that says Subscribe to Future Marketing Communications?
- Select or unselect your preference for Subscribe in the checkbox
This indicates that the website is experiencing high user volume. The software has implemented a Virtual Waiting Room to ensure that user volume does not exceed the site’s ability to provide an informed and responsive registration for our customers.
Once you have entered the Virtual Waiting Room, you will retain your place in line. Rest assured that you keep your place in the Waiting Room line even if your phone goes to sleep, you lose your internet connection, or you close the Virtual Waiting Room page. When you return to the page, you will see your updated progress in the line.
- If your Waiting Room page is open when it’s your turn to register, you automatically will be redirected to the registration site.
- If your Waiting Room page is not open when it is your turn to register, when you return to the website, a popup will notify you of your turn and confirm that you want to proceed to the registration site.
- Once it is your turn to register, you may browse the site and register at your own pace. There is no time limit for completing your transaction with the exception of the 30-minute cart timer. As long as you are still actively searching and adding things to the cart, it will keep the cart.
If you find an activity that interests you or someone in your family, you can add it to your Wishlist. Basically, like marking it as a favorite. It will stay on your Wishlist until you remove it (even after you register for it). It’s a favorite until you don’t want it there anymore. We recommend clearing it out prior to each new season of programs.
Once you locate an Activity you want to favorite and add to your Wishlist. Click the 3 dots on the right of the Activity information and select Add to Wishlist.
To access your Wishlist to register click your name in the top right corner of the website to access it.
Once it is on your Wishlist, you can Add it to your cart where you will be asked which Family Member(s) you wish to enroll in the Activity. Important: After you have added the item to your cart, chosen the family member and answered any questions - make sure you click CONTINUE SHOPPING to go right back to your Wishlist!
Your account credit will be automatically used at checkout. Credits are valid for one (1) year.
By leaving the credit on the account the participant agrees that credits remaining inactive after one (1) year will be donated to the Play it Forward PRCR Scholarship Fund, without further notification.
In Cary, we believe all citizens should have an equal opportunity to participate in recreation. Our Play It Forward Scholarship Fund allows residents to apply for funds that can be used towards Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources programs. More information and how to apply can be found on the Play it Forward website.
Yes! Once approved, the scholarship is linked to your RecTrac account and will automatically apply at checkout. Please contact us at 311 or use the Contact Us tab in RecTrac if you have any questions.
If an activity has reached capacity, it may offer a waitlist option. If you are interested in this activity, please add the item to your cart as a waitlist registration and proceed through checkout; you don’t have to pay any fees unless you come off the waitlist and choose to attend. We cannot predict when or if a spot will become available.
If someone in your household is on the waitlist, and a spot becomes available, you will receive an automated email (see example below) offering a place in this activity. You will have 72 hours to both accept the automated offer AND complete your payment in your RecTrac Account. To find your offer, login first, click on your name at the top of the screen, then proceed to “Waitlist Offers” under “Update”. You will then be able to accept or reject the offer, and complete checkout!
Please ensure you complete the checkout process if you would like to accept the offer. You will need to complete checkout even if the waitlist is for a free program. If you reject the offer, the person will be removed from the waitlist for that activity. Please Contact Us if you have any questions about this process.
Registration may not be open yet. If the program says Unavailable, hover over the selection box to see registration dates. Or most likely you may not meet the age requirement for that specific Activity. All Activities have age criteria based on the content of the program offered and may not be suitable for all ages.
Yes! When you select a Free Activity, the system will add it to your cart. You still MUST CHECK OUT to complete your registration or the cart will expire in 30 minutes and cancel this spot. You won’t be prompted to enter any financial information to complete your check out for a free activity.
- Ensure your browser (Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) is up to date.
- Login to a different device or browser to complete your transaction.
- Clear your browser cache.
- Contact us if you need assistance with completing your transaction.
Once you have logged in, click the "My Account" tab at the top the screen. Select "My History" under the "History & Balances" heading. Or for receipts, click “Reprint Receipt”.
If you registered for summer camps or year-round camps, you log in to your RecTrac account, click the top right corner with your Household name and # and it opens up a drop down. Under Reports is a Childcare Statement that you can access. This will only print eligible camps that are offered and is not a statement of everything your child participated in. (**Contact Cary for your 2023 or older Childcare statements)
- Click your account name in the top right
- Navigate to the middle column titled History & Balances
- Click My History
- Use the search and filter options to navigate your previous registrations
- Alternatively, choose Household Roster under Reports to be emailed a list of your household registrations. This will go to the Primary Guardian on the Household.
