About

Camp Ignite is a weeklong camp created to educate and empower high school girls, offering a unique and inspiring opportunity to explore a potential career in firefighting. Through a hands-on curriculum and mentorship, participants get an inside look at what it takes to be a professional firefighter. The camp covers a range of firefighting skills, including hose handling, first aid, climbing ladders, and team-building exercises, all under the guidance of experienced female firefighters. It’s not only about physical training but also about building confidence, leadership, and a sense of community among young women interested in public service.

Beyond the technical skills, Camp Ignite aims to break down gender stereotypes and inspire the next generation of female leaders in fire service. Campers hear firsthand from women who work in the field, learning about the challenges and rewards of the profession. The camp fosters a supportive environment where participants can ask questions, try new things, and imagine themselves in roles traditionally dominated by men. By the end of the program, many leave with a renewed sense of purpose and the realization that they, too, can pursue a career as a firefighter.
