Bring it to a Food Waste Recycling Drop-Off

Outdoor food waste recycling station with brown bins under a wooden shelter. "Cary Composts" sign on top. Trees and a clear sky in the background.

Cary’s food waste recycling drop-offs are a local option to turn food waste into compost. Each site accepts a variety of materials listed below; open to residents, no commercial interests. All material is composted by a local facility, and some of that finished compost will be returned to the earth at our Good Hope Farm.

Citizen's Convenience Center
313 N. Dixon Ave.

Get Started

1. If it grows, it goes. Collect food scraps and other accepted materials in a kitchen caddy or other convenient container. Consider lining it with a Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)-certified compostable bag, or collect material directly in that bag!

2. Store your container or bag on the counter, under the sink, or in the refrigerator or freezer.

3. Take it to a Food Waste Recycling Drop-Off! Empty your container into the designated carts.
