To view your inspection results, visit our Online Inspections Portal and click on "Select Permit" at the left side menu. 

Inspection results will appear the same day as the inspection was conducted.  Our staff makes it a priority to enter inspection results as promptly as possible following the inspection.

The Multi-Trade Inspections (MTI) group was established to provide a more streamlined inspection process for residential alterations and additions. The Residential Multi-trade Inspections Program allows for one inspector to do all of the trade inspections in fewer visits to the property, which helps keep the project moving forward with fewer delays. We encourage the customer to schedule the inspections when all associated trades are ready to maximize the efficiency of the program. 

Our multi-trade code officials are able to inspect four trades in a single visit:  Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical (HVAC).

All final inspections must be called In by phone. Call us at 311 or (919) 469-4046 weekdays from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Once a permit has had all the required inspections approved, a Certificate of Occupancy or a Certificate of Compliance will be issued to both the contractor and the property owner. Contractor addresses are verified through the Department of Insurance Contractors License webpage.

A permit is active for six months without any activity, or one year after the last inspection. If no inspections take place, the permit will expire. If you resume the project, a new permit will need to be applied for and issued, with the fees doubled.
