Boards and Commissions

The Cary Town Council appoints citizens to seven volunteer boards that make recommendations to the Council on a variety of topics, including environmental issues, recreational activities, communications and technology, land use practices and more.

Of particular interest to seniors is the Senior Advisory Board which collaborates with staff to advise Council in the creation of an inclusive and connected environment to support senior services in Cary.

CERT - Community Emergency Response Team

The Cary Fire Department offers free training designed to enable citizens to care for themselves and their neighbors during the first three days following a disaster event.

Citizens Police Academy

The Cary Police Department offers a free 12-week course that allows citizens to become familiar with the operations of the department, including patrol, communications, traffic, animal control, records, recruitment of new officers, and crime prevention.

Cary 101

Cary 101 provides citizens a behind-the-scenes look at Cary government. Participants get the opportunity to learn how municipal government functions and the decision-making process.
