Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) are installed to manage stormwater runoff from developed sites and to meet Town of Cary water quality and peak flow requirements. Once constructed and approved, SCMs must be properly maintained and inspected for the life of the structure.

The management of these devices and their annual inspection and maintenance is Cary’s Post-Construction Runoff Control Program, one of the six minimum control measures required as part of our NPDES permit.

For more general information on what an SCM is and why they are required, please visit our SCM page.

This page explains maintenance and inspection responsibilities, how to determine ownership, annual inspection requirements, and the Town’s compliance process.
