Water Quality Testing
Cary takes tens of thousands of water samples each year from all parts of the water distribution system and tests them to ensure that drinking water meets or exceeds all state and federal regulatory standards. Citizens can view the Water Quality Testing Summary a comprehensive laboratory report containing test results for all parameters for finished water from the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Facility and distribution system.
Water Quality Report
Results of our testing, along with additional water quality information, can be found in Cary's Drinking Water Quality Report, provided annually to water customers as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The report summarizes test results, health effects information, and other important information about Town water programs.
The 2025 report is available in multiple formats: view the HTML web version (which can be translated using your browser's built-in translation tools) or download the PDF.Annual Water Quality Reports Archive

While customers may periodically receive solicitations offering various services related to their water quality, like private testing, Cary is not affiliated with these companies or their offerings. Cary utility customers should weigh the merits of the program, but are under no obligation or requirement to participate.
